From the City of Derby in the heart of England

The "Derwent City Jazz Band"

Named after the River Derwent upon which the City of Derby is built.

Graham went back to basics and formed the Derwent City Jazz Band at the start of 2009 specially to perform the music from the British 'Trad-Boom' era of the late 1950s to the early 1960s, with a very traditional line-up. During that period Britain was 'trad' mad, grooving to the sounds of Chris Barber, Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk, Terry Lightfoot and others.

So with much respect to all those great artists of the day, the Derwent City Jazz Band present:-

"SOUNDS OF THE TRAD-BOOM"

A show, re-capturing the special feel of the British traditional jazz heyday.

The Derwent City Jazz Band is made up from some of the most experienced traditional jazz musicians in the Derby area.

From left to right they are:-

Alan Birkinhead (Banjo), Graham Woodhouse (Trombone/Bandleader), Kelvin Smith (Clarinet), Jeff Hobson (Drums), Dave Leithead (Trumpet), Rob Smith (String Bass)
